About the Institute

Overview

The Fredericksburg Summer Music Institute is a premier collegiate music festival held in Fredericksburg, Texas, designed to enhance music education and performance for our local community, visiting artist and visiting students. Our premier year is 2026. FSMI is a project of The Fredericksburg Community Orchestras.

Mission Statement

The mission of FSMI is to provide an enriching environment for promising collegiate musicians to learn, collaborate, and perform with experienced artist faculty. We also hope to enrich the fabric of our local community by offering high level symphonic and chamber music performances.

Location

The festival takes place in the scenic Fredericksburg, Texas, known for its vibrant live music, museums, wineries, shopping district and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Most of our activities will be centered out of the Historic St. Joseph’s Halle at 212 W. San Antonio, St in Fredericksburg, TX 78624.

Highlighs

Participants engage in masterclasses, workshops, and performances, fostering both personal and professional growth in their musical journey. Our final concert will feature musicians from our local community performing alongside the visiting students and artist faculty.

Who can apply?

This program is open to college students aged 18-35 who are passionate about music and seek to advance their skills in a supportive community. All students from public and private universities are encouraged to audition.
